The message of the Cross is powerful. The Lord Jesus as the Lamb of God bore the sin of all men so that they may be free from the slavery of sin. This means: Justification through Faith, once and for all. But also the Word teaches that He suffered condemnation because of iniquities, which embraces the work of sanctification.
"Order my steps by thy word, and let not iniquity have dominion over me" (Psalm 119.133).
"But the foundation of God is firm, having this seal: The Lord knoweth them that are his; and: Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity" (2 Timothy 2.19).
Many believers struggle with aspects of their lives that deprive them of spiritual freedom, and cause them anguish or confusion, without knowing how to combat what holds them back in the Christian life. The work of sanctification is to learn to live according to the New Man. The Word is living and effective; therefore, only the power of the Word brings true freedom and healing in the spirit, in the soul, and in the body.
